Fresh Off the Needles: Tutti Frutti Tee

Yarn Used: Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino

My knitting group ran a knit-a-long for the Tutti Frutti Tee by Bea Creative Knits. As if I didn't need another project ongoing, I joined.

I made a size L which is one size larger than recommended for my measurements, but that is because I used Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino. The pattern recommends sizing up for yarn content that isn't fully wool.

The shoulders are a bit wide and I have about an inch of extra fabric around the waist due to sizing up. But it still fits well.

I added in the optional waist shaping and finished the edges with the picot detail. The pattern gives the options for bust darts as well. There is a lot of versatility in one pattern should you need/want a different shape.

I chose to add the strawberry to my shirt- an homage to my girl Strawberry Shortcake! I used embroidery floss for the design. I should have held the yarn double, but I was trying to ration my yarn and use what I had available. The background stitches peek through when only holding the one strand.

I almost ripped out the strawberry because I didn't think the colors matched well. But my knitting group assured me it looked good. And a nice block eased my fears.

This was my first time using Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino and I LOVE it! I wear it right against the skin and there is no irritation that I usually get from wool. It also blocked so nicely. The stitch density was looking thin but after blocking the wool expanded. It now has a dense fabric with beautiful drape. I'm a Knitting for Olive believer now!

Thankfully, it will be warm in Georgia for another month so I'll still get the chance to wear this tee. But I do regret letting it sit on my desk for a month...
