A sweet, simple knitted triangle to wear around your head or neck. Knits up quickly with a simple lace pattern of flowers in a chain. A perfect introduction to simple lace and a way to use up leftover yarn.
Details
Yarn: Light fingering linen yarn, held double. Any fingering or sport weight yarn that meets gauge will work.
Needles: US 2 (2.75mm) straight or circular in whatever size helps you get gauge. My needles were small because the linen was slippery and loose. Your needles may be larger or smaller.
Gauge: 18 sts x 34 rows in Daisy Chain lace pattern after blocking. You can also check your stockinette stitch gauge as an estimate. If you are measuring before blocking I recommend aiming for a gauge a little bit smaller. I find that my knitting stretches out more after blocking.
Finished size: 13 inches from tip to long edge. 26.5 inches across long edge.

Pattern
Cast on 3 stitches with your preferred cast-on method. I used backwards loop cast on.
Setup row: purl all 3 stitches.
Work row 1 of the Daisy chain chart to end (5 sts).
Continue working the chart, repeating the red outlined sections in the stitches across the row. Repeat the red outlined rows until the length and width is right for you. I made mine to fit around my head but you can make yours however big you want. Cast off after finishing a wrong side row. My finished kerchief is 13 long and 26.5 wide at the finished edge. I repeated the chain pattern 9 times (counting the first daisy at the bottom tip).
Cast off all stitches. Weave in ends and block to size.
Wear and enjoy! Please share your finished kerchiefs with me on social media using #daisychainkerchief.
Keep on stitching!
